  1. I am building two of these enclosures for a boat. They will be inside an observers compartment. When stopped we will have the seat opened up. My question is will it cause any issues with cancellation or port noise or decreased volume to put that port on the opposite wall of the box. I need to shrink the 20 inch sides down to about 18.5 inches and the 4 inch aero is actually almost touching the subwoofer in my current box with this design. It would be much easier to make them fit if the ports were on the back wall. Any thoughts? Subwoofer is a Wetsounds REVO-XXX 12 inch.
  2. So to start out this box will be going into the trunk of a 2005 chrysler 300c. Sub is a Skar Audio DDX 15 being powered by a matching rp 800.1 and max dimensions are: 17H x 31W x XD (D = anything really to make 4 cubes and fit aero port inside box if Possible). I already have a 4 cu ft slot ported box in the back with sub and port facing into the cabin, and it hits nice but i like the look of aero ports plus a change is nice every now and then. Now my question's really come down to: Sub/port placement ( IE: sub up port back, sub/port forward, sub back port forward) and what size aero port(s) should i go with? Looking for around the 32Hz range.. Also is there any advantage in having the length of the port inside the box vs outside?
  3. Hello Guys, I am looking to get some help in designing an Enclosure for Dual sundown audio X 12s v.2 for a hatchback. I don't have too much of space to work with but i am looking for an efficient Box Design. I have been designing Enclosures for years but have always worked with slot Ports and i have a 0% experience with the Aero Ports. This time i want to try Aero Ports and when i searched online i was getting confusing information regarding the Port area and Air Velocity. Can someone please help me with this enclosure? The Max outer dimensions that i can squeeze from the boot are H - 21.5 , W - 39 , D- 15.5 (All in inches) Config wud be Sub up , Port up . I want to go the Aero Port route this time
  4. OK I have been going crazy going thru all the pages here to see if ANYONE HAS a design for 2 Sundown x8 Subs.... I will be running between 1500-2k to the pair hoping to use 4" aero ports since I have 2 of them ... There going in a Jeep Patriot (cargo space is 38w x 18d x 14h) "IF" NOONE has done this box I am looking for can someone help with a design...I would be willing to give ya some cash for your time if need be,I would just like to get these things in already since its been a LOOOOOONG min. since I got them.... Thanks in advance for any and all help

    12" Aero port install

Wassup guys I'm doing a port swap in the next few days and trying to get opinions/suggestions. I have a box 39.5h x 41.5w x 13.5" d (outer dimensions) with a port 12h x 10w x 40" l which gives me 6.8 cubes tuned at 31hz with 17.75 port per cube. It's just not giving me as much pressure I want on lows. The new port is 12" o.d. Pvc (11.5" I.d.) x 36" l with 2-4" external. This will give me about 8 cubes tuned at 29 with 14.25 p.p.c. I don't have anything to lose, and I'm not building a new box until I design a 6th. So what are your thoughts on what I have now?
  6. Any input is appreciated, thanks Vehicle : 2000 Eclipse Space available : ( Depth 22 x Width 32 x Height 16.5) Subwoofer make and model: 1 Dc XL m2 15 on 3k Type of Port (Kerfed, Slot, Aero, etc.): Need help! Everyday Music Tuning Freq : 31-32 Hz ? Volume : 4 cubes? Dc says Atleast 3 Questions: Need help on box design. 4th order or aero port box? the sub needs too face forward (unless 4th order). What will be a better design for the sub? How many aero ports and what size would be needed? Can the port be forward facing? external aero port? can the port and sub face forward if not sealed but a good fit? this the same car with a side firing port . This is with the external port and forward firing . Feel comfortable with building any design and have the tools to do so (or atleast try) Thanks for your time!
  7. so im thinking of doing a kinda over the top box, i have a friend that can get me 1.5" thick SOLID red oak wood counter top boards for cheap. i want to build a box for a single hdc4 (most likely) for my jeep, i would be adding in a window and sanding very smooth and staining the box. so hopefully a really nice looking solid wood dark cherry stained box with a carbon fiber sub (dust cap) i honestly dont know what space the 12" hdc4s like what im looking for: dual areos sub facing up in the center of the box ports facing back and one on each side (so the box is symmetrical) loud but more of a FLAT response for a better sounding rear stage. ***would anyone recommend a different 12" size sub for a good sound quality build. im willing to give up to 2000rms to the sub of choice. *** MAX DIMENSIONS I HAVE TO WORK WITH 45" WIDE x 16" TALL x UP TO 32" DEEP but would like to stay under 18-20" if possible
  8. I am building a box for my Lexus is300 sportcross (wagon) and need some guidance. I measured my rear again and again and came up with some pretty solid figures. Everything in the picture is drawn to scale. I tried using the Torres calculator (which I will link) to tune the box. Im trying to use 2 4" aero ports seems like the easiest thing to do. Please let me know what you think of the design and the calculations, any feedback is appreciated.
  9. I am about to build a new box for my Pioneer Tsw304r 12's in the next couple of days or so and I need a box designed for me if someone is willing to design it for me. This setup is going in my 2000 Ford Taurus. I was looking online and thinking about paying either ram-designs or wooferwarehouse to design the box. But if I pay for a design that will keep me from building the box for another week or so due to limited funds right now. Any help is greatly appreciated. Max Dimensions Height: 14.5in Width: 34in Depth: 26in Also I want a double baffle for a flush mount with the aero port tuned to 30-33hz. Idk what my port should be tuned to so all advice with help me dearly. I just want my enclosure to be the loudest that it can be without any distortion if possible. I listen to mainly hip-hop/rap, some rock, some country, and whatever happens to be on the radio.
  10. So I have decided to go with a 10 cube net volume (after sub displacement) box, subs up, ports back in my '03 Explorer. What I am trying to figure out, is port area and what will give me the best low end frequencies. I was originally going to use two, 6" aero ports, tuned at around 30Hz. This would be around 56 sq. in. of port area. This calculator says for two of my subs, 84 sq. in. of port area is the minimum recommended. Three, 6" aeros would be exactly 84 sq. in. of port, looking like my best option. With the one sub however, it says my minimum port area should be 43 sq. in. I am currently using one, 6" aero for the one sub and it sounds amazing on higher frequencies, yet rolls off very steeply below like 35-36Hz. Before I got this box, I tried one 8" aero in the same size box, which is 50 sq. in. of port. The sub unloaded very badly, creating a ton of air movement, but no sound to speak of. Higher frequencies were nearly gone and low frequencies (35<), sounded like air, not deep bass. So I guess my question is, what would be my best bet as far as port area, size and quantity? It seems when I increase port area, the sub does not like it... could this be some other variable I am not seeing? I want to peak lower, around 30-32Hz, which I am starting to think is impossible given the high resonant frequency of my Explorer. The subs will be on a Banda ICE 2.5k eventually, will break the new sub in with my BRZ1700.1 @2ohms, about 600RMS each sub. Input is greatly appreciated, as I do not intend to build this box twice (birch is expensive lol). Thanks!
  11. I have a PowerBass 3XL 15 in a 4.4 cube box tuned at 31Hz, sub up, port back. Up until today, I had two, 4" aero ports and while the higher bass sounded good, my lows were suffering horribly. When I used the calculator and entered my driver size, Xmax and tuning frequency, it recommended 7.45" minimum diameter and 43.56" of port area. The two 4's were only like 25" of port area, so I decided to go with one, 8" port at the same 31Hz, giving me 50" of port area, all much closer to what's recommended. The high bass basically sounds the same, maybe a tiny bit of output loss.... The low bass however, seems to move more air than sound! I can put my ear to the port playing a 30Hz frequency and it sounds like nothing but air to me.... I put my head to the window and my hair is blowing in the breeze, yet I don't hear much in the way of low frequency SOUND. Hard to explain any other way, so I hope everyone gets what I am saying lol. What could be wrong here? Port is about 6" from the hatch. Inner metal, outer metal and plastic paneling is all deadened with 50 mil. GT Mat, yet I still get rattles from all the air movement. The only other thing I changed besides the port size, is I inverted the sub for more air space. I would think this would yield more output, not less? Any input is appreciated, as I just tore apart a really nice looking box, for no output gain what so ever
  12. Hey guys new here, got a quick question for you. I was gonna buy an fi ssd12 but then came across this subwoofer nvx vcw124. I've never heard of this brand but it doesn't look like a half bad sub, I wanna try it out cause it doesn't call for that big of a box but it has pretty much the same specs as the ssd 12. Now my question is for the vcw124 I've come up with a 1.84ft^3 box after sub and port displacement, with a 3 inch areo port that is roughly 16 inches long, a little less, that would give me around 22square inches of port area, so it should be tuned to 25hz like I want it. So my question to you guys is does this sound right or is the box too small or the port too small? I'm not an expert at all but they recommend tuning it to 25hz. Thanks
  13. Whats up guys I did a build log awhile ago with a box that had four zv3 18s in it. It was around 17.5 cubes net tuned to 33hz on about 12k rms, it was loud as hell but I no it was missing that extra punch to it. So the way my box was designed it had a removable port that took up 4.5 cubes , I mean this thing is huge. I have taken that huge port out and going to do something different now to gain some cubes and raise tuning and hopefully get a little louder. So I decided to use aero ports instead, but were im stuck is I don't no which will sound louder and better. listed below is the two options. hopefully you guys can get me some insight on what will sound better. Anybody that help let me say it now thank you, also there is a pic of the old box below so you can get an idea of what was going on. External dimensions 60L. 40w. 20H Internal dimensions 57L. 37w. 17H SUB Displace- .64 Bracing .05 Box is double layered birch all the way around. Option one: tuning 37hz net volume: 19.1ft3 port area range: 172-248" in2 port area 202" in2 four 8" aero ports Option 2: tuning 37hz net volume: 18.87ft3 port area range: 170-245" in2 port area: 226" in2 Two 12" aero port
  14. wats up guys this is my first buld log for my jeep. I will be running three sundown zv3 15"s in ten cubes tuned to 35 hz with two 8 " aero ports on two crescendo bc 3500s.
