  1. Today we are looking at a new amp by Taramps, the MD 1800.1. According to Taramps distributor Daymian, this amp is optimized for bass and mid-bass applications. It is rated to deliver 1800 watts of RMS power at 12.6 volts with less than or equal to 1% THD. Oh yeah? Let's test it and find out... Rated: 505w @ 8 ohms 1100w @ 4 ohms 1800w* @ 2 ohms *the 1800w rating in the manual is stated from 60Hz to 1kHz <=1% THD as tested with Audio Precision APx525 on resistive loads. We tested at 40Hz and also compared at 1kHz near the end of the video for those who want to run this full range. Check it out!
  2. 5 crossfire xsm8 loudspeakers in each door. power comes from a taramp 3000 HD. had them in for a month or so now. no problems. still deciding on when to put the shag carpet on. glassed both sides. made a mess as usual. strong though.
  3. So the other day my friend came over with his Banda Viking 10k for me to tune and I was unable to tune it with my DD-1 and CC-1. I also had the same experience with a Taramps HD8000. The DD-1 detected clipping at near minimum gain on both amps. I used the -5db overlap track for setting the gains. When I attempted to tune the Banda, I tested the maximum undistorted HU voltage and it was 2.3v. It has a maximum input sensitivity of 3v so I should be able to turn the gain up a bit before hitting distortion but as soon as I turn the gain up just a slight hair, the DD-1 distortion light came on. I heard that the clipping indicators on the amps are accurate so I tried it out. I barely had to move it at all from the DD-1 set point to the amp's clip indicator set point so it seemed accurate to me. Once that was set I moved on to the CC-1. As soon as I hook it up, I get a red signal light with the track playing on volume 1 and even without any track playing at all... wierdest shit I ever saw. No matter what I tried, the signal light stayed red. I've tuned many amps without any issues whatsoever. The only amps my SMD tools didn't work on were those 2 brazilians. Has anyone else had issues tuning brazilians?
  4. Im really curious if you guys were going to build a van with a big setup (160+) for demos, to be musical around town etc. The van has to look good and still be very very driveable. What type of van would you use and why? Also would like to know what your favourite vans are that are currently competing or have in the past? Favourite by looks, favourite by their setup, or favourite because a mixture of both. The more pics the merrier.... Thanks for your time
  5. Hey Guys, Some of you already know who I am, and for those who don't, here is a quick summary. Basically, I run Taramps, and I have been using Lithium batteries from the good people over at Juice Box Battery. I also use 6 15" SSA Evils subs in a 4thbp that's 50 cuft Gross. This 12DCV system topped off at 162db with poor electrical being at fault for not betting that score since achieving it. Well for 2016, I am changing things up a bit, at least for what seems like the rest of the season. I have shipped my LiFePo4 battery back to JB for repair, and since have acquired 18 XS Power D3400s. I have also wired them in series to achieve 230 DCV Resting. The amplifier(s) that I will be using, (3) Taramps T60Ks. I also installed Dual Trans-coolers for my explorer (07).
  6. Here is a discussion from Facebook, I though would be healthy to discuss. We know that a 300 amp burst will bring a single D3400 battery down to 10.X volts, but will be ok for burst and not permanently damage it. So we also know, 237 is the absolutely max resting volts of 18 batts wired in series. 237v / 18 batts = 13.16v (rest) 13.16v x 22 batts = 290v The plan for October is to have 22 batts, that's why I mention 22. Below are the maximum wattage numbers that I could theoretically achieve based on my battery bank of 22 XS Power D3400s. This number does not matter how many 60ks I throw in there. 237v x 300a = 71,000va 290v x 300a = 87,000va (I do know that once power is requested the voltage will begin to sag.) I enjoy theorizing and analyzing audio, and I thought I like to share a small amount of that with you guys who are curious about my particular setup. Moving forward, I could instead of add 4 more d3400s, I could try adding 4 20ah lithiums for example, or some nimrods, or even caps to create or improve a better capacity and reserve to have even more power. --- A good friend of mine, Mike Digouardo had this to say: Mike Dioguardo And for those who suggest supercaps... " if you wanted to use 350F 2.7v Maxwell caps… 290v / 2.7v = 107 cells needed 350F/107 cells in series = 3.2 Farads Each cell has an ESR of 3.2miliohms, or 0.0032 ohms, so… 0.0032 * 107 cells in series = 0.34ohms of ESR, which can give you a maximum output current of… 290v / 0.34 Ohms = 852A Max Current Output And a total maximum power output of… 290v * 852A = 247,080 Watts Max Power Output " "A small supercap bank alone gives you 247,080 Watts of available power, or 5x more power then using just batteries. But of course, playing time is the limiting factor here. So lets say you wanted to output 60,000w for 5 seconds… Faradays Law with respect to time: F=w*s/v^2 In other words, Farads you need = (Watts you want to output* Seconds of playing time)/ Your charge voltage, squared. (60,000 Watts * 5 seconds of play time)/(290v * 290v) = 3.5F Or in other words… (60,000 Watts * 1 second)/(290v * 290v) = 0.71 Farads needed per second of play time at 60kw" (all these calculations are done for just the caps ALONE, they do not take account into the 22x battery bank you already have. So you will have much more playing time then

    upgrade time!

Hey whats up everyone! So last summer I ran 2 American bass hd 12s on a banda 3500. The subs are now sold and I'm looking to upgrade. Do you guys think I would get louder running 4 AB XFL 10s on a Taramps 4k? Any suggestions on upgrades? Thanks!

    Amp advise

My current setup consists of: -Advance auto parts group 34/78 up front -stinger spp1500d in the back -mechman 270a alt -Crescendo bc2k -Crescendo c1100.4 -Knu konceptz 1/0 all around including big 3 I was wanting to upgrade to something bigger (maybe a dc level 6 18). I am tore between 2 options...(both options will have c1100.4 and same batteries plus some later down the line) 1st: -Taramps hd5000 -2 positive runs of sky high 2/0 from front to back -3 positive runs to the amp -Big 3 in sky high 2/0 2nd: -Another bc2k strapped to the other one -1 run of sky high 2/0 from front to back -2 runs of knu 1/0 or 1 run of sky high 2/0 to each bc -big 3 in sky high 2/0 I can save money going with another bc, but would the more efficient taramps be a better option? Im just curious of yalls thoughts on the taramps.
