CaPRiCEx383 Posted February 10, 2011 Report Share Posted February 10, 2011 (edited) I'm getting ready to build my new box for 4 12" Hifonics HFi12d4's, Just want you guys to double check it for me on anything i might have missed, This is going in the trunk of a 2000 honda accord powered by a jbl 1201.1 at 2ohms so 1200rms.. Box will be subs up port back. fecupe2001 Posted February 11, 2011 Report Share Posted February 11, 2011 Box looks ok to me, 1.5 cubic feet per sub should be more than enough, and about port area, well those are some low line subs with a small xmax, i think port area is good, i might try it a little bit bigger but that would be me, and about the images, i like way more the port on the picture to the right, the other port might cause some unloading problems IMO. Normally a low-line sub is going to be better suited in sealed/IB boxes(Eclipse and Infinity come to mind). They'll generally have a pretty low fs, but a higher than normal qts value...good for sealed/IB, but makes them peaky in small ported boxes in a lot of cases. There are tons of other variables, but it can be the case sometimes.
