justashowcar Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 I just bought a mechman 350 amp alt for my 96 montecarlo but im just wondering which would be better to use it in place of my stock alt or have brakets made to run it independently the stereo im running is not that large but i want to run it to the fullest without worrie of amp clipping. Im will be running a memphis 1000.4 on my highs and a planet audio BB2400. Which i will be running the highs amp@ 4 ohms but the sub amp will be running@ 1ohm. All together it will be around 300 amp draw i am open to all suggestions and i also need help on which batteries and how many to run in the trunk i was kinda thinking about 2 kinetik 1400's but i know if that will be enough this is my first stereo with an upgraded alt and extra batts thanks for any help huge fan of all the vids on youtube

Rebel4055 Posted February 11, 2011 Report Posted February 11, 2011 I read in your post that you want to run without clipping, yes having the amp try and produce power that isn't there could cause issues but if you set your gains correctly you will be set.
