speedball1978 Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 ok guys i've been having issues just the last 2 days and the pic with the 13.8 i know is the normal reading that was days ago there has been times when it settles around 14.4, but now its 12.7 as you can see in the second pic.. and this is sitting at idle with the car running and no audio equipment hooked up.. i'm frustrated.. what can i do to resolve my problem
Guest Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 what model and year GM (assuming, i want to say, newer then 06 judging by the cluster) do you have? more than likely you have an ECU controlled regulator so you cant do anything about it.
speedball1978 Posted February 14, 2011 Author Report Posted February 14, 2011 this is on my d1200 XS power battery, if i put my shuriken battery under the hood , it appears to be normal with a 13.8 reading.. but i've checked both batteries resting 12.8 and 12.9 respectively... now that it reads 12.7 with the car on at idle, i've tested the alternator ground on the casing and positive at the B+ post, it also gets a 12.7 reading.. one of 2 things are failing and i can't figure out what the hell it is
speedball1978 Posted February 14, 2011 Author Report Posted February 14, 2011 its a 2009 malibu, got a DC power alternator, with a D1200 battery with a shuriken in the back.. and i have had this hooked up for 2 months.. with no problems.. so why now.. is what getting to me... i've been getting 14.2 14.4 with my stock alternator...and yes its controlled by the ecu, but the battery rest at 12.8 so why would the whole electrical be 12.7 with a DMM with the car running, this is entirely impossible
FaTbOy911 Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 Wtf strange try charging the xs power the need a good charge once in a while Had an estimate of 6400 for an alpine/clarion setup dealer said it "should" hit around 160db with the custom boxes he was going to make for me..doubtful with so much area to move but, budget is way below that any ideas on cheaper brands for that kind of Spl setup? really didnt want to try any Boss or soundstorm, thinking Quantum figure around $150 per speaker "$1800 total" and $1700 to power it, first actual big setup for the van. dugee81 Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 i say ECU, newer cars are set to lower the voltage to help increase gas mileage or some ol' bs 200a alt. by Excessive Amperage hc800 under hood & 2 Deka 9a31 in rear 1/0awg + big 3 SAZ 3000D HDC3 18" @ 2 ohm
