shayne_0605 Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 Ok so for a long time my set up was 4 12's in a ported box running them on a P.A. PS1-4000D at 2 ohms. Just recently I have started redoing my system and sold those woofers and got 2 re audio sex d4's till i can afford the other pair. But i dropped the ohm load down to one and now my 4 gauge wiring cant handle it my headlight dim horrible and my voltmeter on my cap drops down below 12. Wats my best upgrade for the money. Build pics coming soon in another post.
zayres29 Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 ditch the cap get the biggest battery you can fit under the hood and do the big 3 in 0ga Btw that was the first person. Ever banned by me while dropping a deuce. Feel privileged

Trâgîk Posted February 14, 2011 Report Posted February 14, 2011 Definetly start with the 0 gauge wire and big 3 then you should get a alternator followed by batteries -----SELLING EVERYTHING---- 2 DC sound labs 3.5k's (still avail) 2 HDC312A D1's (still avail) 5 XS Power Batteries (1 d3400 and 1 d1200 left) 4 runs of knukoncepz 0 gauge (have all the wire still) DC power 270XP alt (sold) RF T1 6.5 components (both sold) Powerbass XAX 4160 (still avail) Custom built box 4.75^3 tuned 34hz (still avail)
shayne_0605 Posted February 15, 2011 Author Report Posted February 15, 2011 Thanks Guys. But would it be better to run 2 sets of 0 gauge or 1 run of 2/0 ofc welding cable? Im trying to get the best for the money. Funds are rly tight. How much difference does the big three rly make?
Trâgîk Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 It makes a huge difference.. Your alternator is what produces the power in your vehicle. By increasing the size of the wire you allow more amperage to flow throughout you car and will reduce your voltage drops. Its definetly a starting point and its not very expensive if thats what your worried about. You shouldnt need a whole lot of wire. Just add 0 gauge to the existing wire. Id say start there -----SELLING EVERYTHING---- 2 DC sound labs 3.5k's (still avail) 2 HDC312A D1's (still avail) 5 XS Power Batteries (1 d3400 and 1 d1200 left) 4 runs of knukoncepz 0 gauge (have all the wire still) DC power 270XP alt (sold) RF T1 6.5 components (both sold) Powerbass XAX 4160 (still avail) Custom built box 4.75^3 tuned 34hz (still avail)
Trâgîk Posted February 15, 2011 Report Posted February 15, 2011 But like boilermaker said, you need to figure out how much amperage you have and then how much you need and then work accordingly. -----SELLING EVERYTHING---- 2 DC sound labs 3.5k's (still avail) 2 HDC312A D1's (still avail) 5 XS Power Batteries (1 d3400 and 1 d1200 left) 4 runs of knukoncepz 0 gauge (have all the wire still) DC power 270XP alt (sold) RF T1 6.5 components (both sold) Powerbass XAX 4160 (still avail) Custom built box 4.75^3 tuned 34hz (still avail)
shayne_0605 Posted February 16, 2011 Author Report Posted February 16, 2011 Thanks. My alt is putting out 130 amps. Voltage stays around 14.3 without the system on.
