adam6604 Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 hey guys, i just sold my 4 12" kickers. and im picking up 2 15" RE SX subs on wednesday. but at the moment i only have an alpine MRP-M1000 amp. thinking of selling it for an AudioQue 2200, or a hifonics amp, any suggestions for amp? but, im driving a 1998 dodge ram 1500. all stock electrical, and i KNOW ill need some upgrades to keep up with 2000+ watts. but i really dont have the cash. i was thinking of hooking up a RV battery under the hood as a 2nd battery ( i have 3 RV batteries liying around ) would that work? subs are going to be in a 8^3ft box, ported to like 32-35 hz? ( first box build ) so who knows how that'll go so any suggestions for what i should and shouldnt do? Driving my 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 MEGA cab with the 5.7 hemi. bassl0va Posted March 7, 2011 Report Posted March 7, 2011 Sounds good. Is the box before or after displacement? Just tune it to like 35hz or something and be done with it, the response changes in the car anyway. You won't necessarily need electrical upgrades, I've been running 3k on stock stuff (well, with 0g wire of course) and I've had no problems. But if you have some nice big batteries that are in good condition and you know how to set them up in such a way that won't start a fire then go for it! Although, if they are anything like these boat/RV batteries of mine then you will easily get away with 1 of them. That's a 6.5" for comparison.
