I got a battery for free?

Okay my uncle loves the company called "Interstate Batteries" and his truck was sitting for about 5 months. He said anything i want i could have so he let me have this battery which is freaking heavy. Its called an Interstate Mega-tron Plus battery with an 85 month warranty, So i plugged it up to my charger and it said it had 3% of battery life. Im charging it slow to be safe..... Is there any way to tell if its faulty or anything i should look out for? Seems to be charging decently.

After it's charged put a multi-meter on it and check the resting voltage.

Voltage doesn't always tell the condition of a battery. The only true way to determine if a battery is still good is a load test.

its too bad you have no real way of testing it with a load on it. that would help alot.

after it get sup to its 12.4 12.6 whatever its charged voltage is, get a multimeter and then check what its resting at when its done, and then few hours later go check it again if its still holding voltage then its good, if not then its bad,

or

if its at its charged coltsage put it in your car and try starting it, if it cant start your car then the battery is done for

I've been slow charging it for about 4 hours at 2 amps, and its up to 11.3 Volts now ill continue charging till it gets to 12-13 volts, and let it sit for awhile if its still 12-13 volts over a 24-hr period ill hook it up. I cleaned the battery off and made the terminals acid-free and it looks decent. There has been no swelling of the battery, and it looks like it just came from the manufacturer. When i began charging it it was only at 6volts standing still its supposed to be 12 volts, and around 4-5 hours of charging at 2amps its increased voltage from 6.2 to 11.3 volts. When it gets to 12volts ill let it sit for awhile and if it can hold a charge ill be very happy. Getting that multi-meter really helped. thanks guys.

Also: after researching my battery its approved for audio installations, and its also worth $200+ dollars with the warranty!!
