Welp, I officially have an active front stage. Still deciding on what to do with the old tweeter holes. Tweets are now in the stock locations.

I can do a couple things.

1. Make some sort of cover that will go over the holes, probably out of fiberglass.

2. Put the second set of tweeters I am currently not using into those holes (hook them up or not)

3. something else? Anyone have any ideas?

One of my friends suggested i get some poodle heads to cover the holes, to somewhat match the fur on the doors. Funny but I think I can do better.

Come Thanksgiving, I'm doing to redo this box. It works ok, but it really doesn't have enough port, it's too small (less than 3 cubes net), and it's kinda peaky. I'm going to stick to a regular middle slot ported box this time. Not sure if I am going subs up or back, but port will be back for sure. That is, unless someone convinces me otherwise. I was hell bent the first time on keeping the box as low as possible, not sure I even remember why. This time I will only worry about the box being below the cover for the hatch area. Gotta cover them up somehow.

it's plenty loud enough. just doesn't get low enough for me. It drops off quickly. I think I can do better with a bigger box and more port, especially seeing that I am underpowering them.

Who got bored and slightly increased the net volume of their box? Me.

Also upgraded from 2 runs of 12g wire to a single run of 8g wire. Overkill I know but 8g looks cool :)

Not done yet, but here is my SMD VM-1 in it's temporary location. Actually, the location won't change, I will just make it look better one day (we all know how that goes)

plus a nice little disconnect I put on the end to make it easier to get that panel off. That panel covers my distribution block and may need to come off from time to time.

and that panel covers this spot.

More work on the SMD VM-1. Totally stole this idea from AMI and his VM-1 install.

started with this piece, cutting it out to an approximate size and shape.

Once I was happy enough with that shape, I roughed in a piece of clear Lexan.

image-4_zpsb4c4f98a.jpg

Used a flexible silicone and also some plastic tabs and CA glue to hold the Lexan in place. Used CA glue to hold the VM-1.

Added some tint to the Lexan. This is where it sits now, waiting for the tint to dry so I can finish the edges and paint the area around the VM-1 so only the meter can be seen through the Lexan. Oh and by the way, I suck ass at tinting. Good thing it won't matter with this for the most part.
