MrSkippyJ Posted March 14, 2011 Report Posted March 14, 2011 My UBL has a photo-timeline of my car's stereo life. That link is listed in my sig AND the current equipment list. This thread follows my car from around the time I got my first DC sub through it's current form. My original build can be found in my sig AND below the current equipment list. Fine by me! Also, put in my 360.2 but never took pics of that location, which was very temporary. MrSkippyJ Posted March 14, 2011 Author Report Posted March 14, 2011 So got the sub put in, then I came across some RF components. The JLs were very nice sounding, but I wanted some more volume and I figured RF T1652-s components would do the trick. I was right. MrSkippyJ Posted March 14, 2011 Author Report Posted March 14, 2011 looks good but question why did you cut out the doors why not use the factory mounting locations for your speakers You mean the tweets or mids? I will answer both. Tweets-the plan is to use 2 sets of components eventually, so instead of using the factory location for now, I just went ahead and put the first tweeter in the spot where both will end up. Mids-It is really hard to explain how the factory speaker was mounted and I didn't take any pictures of how it was mounted. But to try to explain, the mount for the factory speaker was connect to the basket of the speaker. There was no way of mounting the RF mid to the factory housing. The whole thing was mounted to the sheet metal on the door and not the door panel. And again, 2 sets of components are planned which means I will have to work up some fiberglass anyway, so cutting was just easier for the time being.
