jwmerrell16 Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 hi i have a kicker l7 15 i just bought. i temp had it in a way to small box and it picked up the lows pretty good but nothing to what it should of sounded like. i Juust got a new bigger ported box today but with no sound difference. could this be the sub being damaged? wired incorrectly? still to small box? or my amp? im running a 3500 watt ssl amp (i know its not actually pushing 3500 watts). i have 6 gauge wire. the amp is missing the bass control knob. my sub is dual 4 ohm voice coils. this set up is in a 94 probe gt 6cyl

That was gonna be my question. If you've got 6 gauge power wire you're starving your amp. wtf is lolcats? I'd def get a fat hooker if i had to resort to that kinda thing. I feel like they'd be grateful and work harder. Also its more bang for my buck, more real estate for my dollar if you catch my drift. its like the Costco of streetwalkers. I was hoping for 150 . Guest Posted March 21, 2011 Report Posted March 21, 2011 even though that amp can output about 900rms at best, 6 gauge is a little on the small side for my taste. especially if its not true 6 gauge. i'd think about switching to some legit 4 gauge. one brand that comes to mind is knukonceptz. also, switching to ANOTHER prefab box, im not surprised you didnt have any performance gains since no prefab box is made for any woofer on the market. the best thing you can do is get a custom design from one of the guys on here (such as raam_designs, i dont know how to spell his name exactly) and build the box yourself and you will have SIGNIFICANT performance gains.
