What do these terms mean?

Recommended Posts

Can you help me out with what these are?

I noticed this on the JL 10w7ae-3...

DMA-optimized motor system

OverRoll™ Surround

W-Cone technology

Floating Cone Attach Method

Radially Cross-Drilled Pole Piece

I noticed these on the Rockford T2D215...

Thermo-Rubber Santoprene surround

Mirror image symmetrical tear and fatigue resistant poly cotton spider

Parabolic triangular cone geometry support system

Optimized motor magnetics with extended vented pole and bumped backplate

Spun-laced Nomex insulating reinforcement collar

(IDHS) Inductive Damping Heat Sink

I would really love to know what these are. Thanks

These terms are a super sophisticated way of saying the two subs are made of the cheapest parts that could be found, then they were put together by robots on an assymbly line. They were then cheaply packaged and overpriced because of the name that is on them.

It's marketing hype to make people think they are superior to other subs. Dont fall for it.

2000 GMC Sonoma

AQ20 FTMFW!

4 DC XL 15's

Cadence ZRS-C9

Infiniti Kappa 3.5's and 6x8's

Bravox 6.5 components

Really?

I didn't think Rockford did much of that kind of stuff.

Once u have Rockford fosgate money, the dirtiest thing your hands touch is toilet paper after wiping, as far as the lower line goes anyway

The two I put in bold I will buy. The others are exagerated terms used to make the subs seem like they are made out of top of the line, state of the art materials that no one else can get their hands on. Put either sub next to an SMD, LVL5 or something similar and see which one looks like it is built the best.

I noticed this on the JL 10w7ae-3...

DMA-optimized motor system

OverRoll™ Surround just a high roll surround

W-Cone technology i believe this is referring to how the cone is supported. they see a "W" shape

Floating Cone Attach Method

Radially Cross-Drilled Pole Piece holes in the pole piece to allow better air flow/cooling

I noticed these on the Rockford T2D215...

Thermo-Rubber Santoprene surround just sounds better than "rubber surround"

Mirror image symmetrical tear and fatigue resistant poly cotton spider

Parabolic triangular cone geometry support system same thing as the "W" cone thing above ^

Optimized motor magnetics with extended vented pole and bumped backplate just a vented pole piece like most subs have. sound like they put rubber at the bottom of the gap so the coil hits something softer than metal if you bottom them out.

Spun-laced Nomex insulating reinforcement collar some companies use a collar on the triple joint, where the spider, cone and former meet.

(IDHS) Inductive Damping Heat Sink

I would really love to know what these are. Thanks

mostly just fancy ways of saying the same old stuff. i explained what I could.

If I answered you in a well mannered, informative way, you asked a good question or had a good attitude. If I was an asshole, you asked a stupid question or you had a fucktard attitude... or I was in a bad mood.
