big-mark-g Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 hello i am planning on bulding a box for 1 15 inch subwoofer, want it best tuned for spl, does any1 have any designs i could have or plans for sizes to make it. thanks the sub i will be using first is a jblgt4-15, only temporary until my i get the orion 15.2 hcca ... the specs for the jbl are as follows if it helps, Sensitivity 91dB Impedance 4 Ohms Voice-Coil Diameter 2 inches Cutout Diameter 14.25 inches Mounting Depth 6.77 inches Overall Diameter 15.16 inches Vas 4.7 cubic feet Qts 0.44 Fs 28.36Hz Qes 0.47 Qms 7.35 Xmax 12 mm thanks again

TeamHT Posted March 25, 2011 Report Posted March 25, 2011 Um, there is a subwoofer/enclosure section. Also, tuning for spl...you do realize what this will entail, right? Specific vehicle, resonant frequency, and tuned pretty high. I think what you're going for is just loud. I'm going to assume this is a daily vehicle with a daily system. And if the jbl is temporary, is the hcca getting its own box built? Or are you planning on simple swap? If so...shouldn't the box be designed for the hcca? Tell me...does this smell like chloroform to you?
big-mark-g Posted March 25, 2011 Author Report Posted March 25, 2011 you are right i no alot is invovled but yes i want just the like loud, i cannot go too deep into details because it is an every day car and no doubt will be changed so in essence all i want is the best box size to help the sub actually hit low and hard... the hcca will probably have a seperate box built to the manufactures spec so all i want this 1 sized to is the jbl really. thanks
