I have experience building many sealed boxes, but never got up into building ported. I only have two questions... How do you determine how big the box needs to be? Say you have a sub that need between 4cf and 8cf for a ported box... So ill choose a nice middle number of 6cf for my box. Does this 6cf include the port? or does the port take away from it, so i would need to build a box that is like 6.2cf and then put the port walls in? Also, if the 6cf DOES NOT include port, how do you calculate the volume in cf of the box with the port in there, since of course it would have an open vent.... This will be my first ported box, and I wanna do it right... Oh and I almost forgot, would Brad Nails from a Nail Gun be good for a ported box or screws? what kind of double sealant would be good. I usually use three forms of bond, wood glue between the MDF sides, liquid nail on the inside edges of the box, and most of the time I use a nail gun for some extra support. What do you guys think? Looked around, got a little input, used the program and built most of a box today for a solo 15. 4ft^3 tuned to 33hrtz. Do a little research and you will find its not to hard Since were all having a moment of truth. I hate country too.. I'd only listen to it if I got some hotass bitch in my car and shes gonna suck my dick.

Just glue, and use like 1.5" nails in the nail gun and go down the sides about every 3 or 4 inches and you'll be good. No need to seal the inside with silicone. Yeah I was thinking about getting two FI BTL 15"s which require Ported box: 2.5-5.0cuft I figured id build a box 4cf tuned to around 34hz I just got confused as I know the port for a slot port would probably only be a small little L but of course filling the box with would would take out some cf although not much, just a tad, do you just subtract the cf size of the port woof minus the outer dimensions of the box? For example. I have a box that is 4cf measuring the outside dimensions. I put in lets say .5cf of MDF to build the L for the port. Does that mean my box would be 3.5cf tuned to 34 hz? i know thats kinda confusing. LOL hopefully you'll get it. I appreciate it guys! This sites really great for all car audio!
