cyoung
Hey guys I'm lookin to run some components off this amp..the specs for the amp/speakers are below..my question is would I be able to safely put 250 watts to the speaker if the peak is 300 Amp specs: Items Features Voltage 175.4 Output Power (RMS) at 4 ohm 14.4V 175Wx4 at 2 ohm 250Wx4 Speaker specs Peak: 600 watts per set / 300 watts each side RMS: 300 watts per set / 150 watts each side Thanks
bumonskateboard6
No, are you sure they're 2 ohm? Cause I feel it's safe to run 175rms to s speaker that's 150rms if theyre 4ohm. Edit: what speakers are you looking at? Low voltage doesn't blow amps. That's a myth. A router that does the sub holes makes rounded edges also?
cyoung
They are the re audio xxx 6.5" components..Pretty sure they are 2..can u recommend any 6.5" components and 6x9 coaxials..perferably the same brand for both..lookin to run these speakers off a dc audio 175.
bumonskateboard6
Ah I was wondering if they were the RE XXX components cause you said they were 2 ohms... Those are the only speakers I'd feel comfortable running at 2ohms off that amp, however I'm still not sure how long they'll last. Talk to Ray or James on here I'm pretty sure they've run a lot of these over their RMS ratings and can give you some good info. Autruche
Uh... Here's a crazy idea, don't turn the amp all of the way up? No one said you could only use it's full RMS. You can set it to run around 150-175 at 2 ohms by backing off of the gain slightly. Although you'd be better off to find 4 ohm components, as most 4 channels are more efficient and tend to sound better at 4 ohm loads.
