How exactly do you determine what volume and port area to use? I'm planning on going with two 15" Rockford P1's on 350-400W RMS tuned to about 30 Hz. hdorre Posted April 7, 2011 Report Share Posted April 7, 2011 Port area depends on the driver, not box size. But, people use 12-16sqin/cube as a rule of thumb. Generally if you use those guidelines, your box won't sound like complete ass. At the same time, it may not be optimal. If you have less power than RMS or the rms, then go with a bigger box. If you have a ton of power, go with a smaller enclosure. When you say, "less power than RMS," do you mean less power than the RMS rating of the subs, or basically you're underpowering them?
