tools for box building

Recommended Posts

Just like it says, If i wanted to make my own box what would i need? a circular saw, and router to cut out the holes for the subs right? or is it more than that? I have a shop that will build me a box for 75.00, but i already have a circular saw, if i just need a router, ruler, and the hardware i could try to just build one myself.

sounds like the cheapest shop ive ever heard about.

tape measure, pencil, guide, circular saw, router with circle jig, drill, nail gun, air compressor,

probably more things too

or a jig saw and some patience and a simple drill would work

also clamps are handy to have to squeeze the box together (your first box prob wont turn out 100$ square haha )so its handy to have atleast 2 laying around

well the guy said he is making me a deal on the box since im buying some 13 w3's, the reason i am iffy is because im afraid that ill tell him i want a box tuned to 34hz and he will be like oh well since our boxes are typically tuned to 50 hz thats going to be 100 more dollars which would be retarded. if thats the case i would rather just go buy a nail gun and router, everything else i already have.

This is what i use.

Square

Tape Measure

Countersink bit for countersinking the screws

Drillbit for predrilling

Wood glue

1-1/4" Drywall screws (these come out after the glue is dried)

Bar or pipe clamps

Table saw or circ saw

Router with upcut bit

Jasper Jig

Now if you dont have/cant afford to buy a router and Jasper jig you can cut the holes with a jig saw, they wont be perfect but they will work just fine. Be creative and use the tools you have. Also I cant stress enough to people, USE YOUR RESOURCES....friends, mom, dad, their friends. Somebody has the tools you need.

He thought you meant you were doing 13 x w3's as in 13 subs, not 13" w3's.

To build boxes I use a panel saw, a table saw, compressor, router, nailgun, glue, clamps, jasper jig, palm and belt sander

i pulled out my dick in class many of times and had it shown. get over it bitch...stupid open legged hairy beavered bitch...

going over rms = smaller box, under rms = bigger box...

Low voltage doesn't blow amps. That's a myth.

A router that does the sub holes makes rounded edges also?

oh ok, thanks for the clarification. I wish i could afford 13 w3's, if i could i would probably just go with some 18's instead.

If you already have a jigsaw, you can make most anything you want. There are jigs and guides that you can make (or buy) to cut circles, ovals, you name it. Circles are probably the easiest (just a board attached to your jigsaw with a pivot point).

If you have a router, a Jasper jig is hands down one of the best tools EVER. I have three of them and am constantly using them. One is installed in my router box, one on a router and the 400 model just loose for those smaller holes.

I'd say 99% of everything I've made has been with my routers, a straight edge, ruler, square, pencil, glue, clamps (edit: almost forgot about those), drill, a sander or sandpaper, and patience.

Examples of router only creations:

So it doesn't take a ton of money, tools, etc. to make some awesome stuff, it's how well you use the tools you have.
