zaxfire69
Umm..I might need a second opinion about this, but I will take a stab at it.. Say your box is 40"wide X 30" tall x 20" deep...Take 40x30x20=24000 divide 24000 by 1728=13.89cuft Correct me if I am wrong gentlemen... Now as far as tuning goes that is where I need help at and would hope somebody would help us both out...?? Please...

TechSys
Can't really help with port tuning as I'm still learning. The formula above is for external cf^3, if I'm reading it right (tired form work). To get internal ft^3 take the thickness of the wood off each side. example: that 40"wide X 30" tall x 20" deep enclosure, using .75" MDF would be... 38.5"w x 28.5"t x 19.5"d. for an internal ft^3 of 12.3821614583 or 12.39 ft^3 Of course I could be wrong. Far too damned tired to use my mind right now. andym85
tuning is kinda hard to explain...i just made a kinda complex excel spreadsheet that does all the work for example: outer dimensions: 25.5 x 34.5 x 41.5 inner dimensions: 24 x 33 x 40 (assuming 3/4"wood) Total inner volume before displacement: 18.33cft Port opening: 8 x 26 (which is 208sq" of port area -- or 14.6sq" per cubic foot) Port length: 24" Total sub displacement: .46cft Total port displacement: 3.6cft (this is for a sqare port, not a slot port that uses one box wall as part of the port) Total inner volume after port/sub displacement: 14.24cft Tuning: 33.1 hz there is a formula that i can post if u like...its kinda complicated...but the above is just an example Quote i likes me some audio stuff...
