Well I just got a new system in my 2008 impala, I put 2 10in RF R1's and a Legacy Icon 2000Watt amp, I was told if i kept the gain set properly the subs would be fine. Well they hooked the subs up to one channel, the guy that my buddy had hook up the subs was told to bridge it but did not, so i found out and bridged it but its not as loud anymore. i was wondering if it would mess anything up if I hooked it back up the other way...

If I can get any help on this I would greatly appreciate it.

That doesn't really make too much sense...when you bridge a two channel amp to one channel, that is called bridging. When you take a 4 channel amp and bridge it to two channels, that is called bridging. Taking subs that are hooked up to one channel and hooking them up to 2 channels is unbridging. If there were such a word...

Im assuming he is talkin bout a 2 channel amp and the person who installed it hooked the subs up in parallel to just one of the channels of the amp. What coil configuration are your subs? dual voice coils? 4 ohm, 2 ohm?

Im not 100% sure how to explain it...there 4 hook ups on the amp, 2 channel, the box has two hook up on it one for each sub...They linked the the subs outside the box, the amp says "bridge" with arrows to hook them up to the two outer hookups they hooked them up to 1 channel as if you were hooking up each sub to a different channel. Im not sure if that makes it more clear?

Oh word...I got ya.

Yea, more info would be nice. Dual VCs? Ohms? What type of amp is it? Channels?

WE NEED INFO MAN!

But we are here to help, non the less.

Sounds like maybe the impedance is wrong if it got quieter. What type of subs are they?
