hibatch Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 My friend got rid of his system so I took his 4 gauge wires and cap, the problem is the cap doesn't turn off when I shut the car off, it still shows the led numbers, is that normal? mrd6 Posted April 25, 2011 Report Posted April 25, 2011 Depending how you have it wired caps aren't "useless" but they are not really going to help with voltage drop 99% of the time so... But if you drive your car more often than never you do not have to worry about the cap draining your battery. Once caps charge, they form a short so no current is flowing through them anyways. The amount of current draw for those LED lights is also going to be negligible for you unless you leave the car sitting cold for months at a time.
