Setting amps up for music? is oscope the way?

How do you set up your amps to get them loud but safe on music?

Setting up with a 0dB tone means I will never see clip but makes my music quiet.... no good for a good "bumping"

I've tried using a -6dB tone, this gets the subs to the level they should be playing but they get warm after a song.

Decaf made a file. It's in the first post in a sticky in the tunez section iirc

If you test with a 0 db and are unsatisfied, then you need to beef up your system a lil. Using anything else can cause clipping on certain songs.

the tone decaf has thats -4.6db or something would be perfectly fine for you.

Thanks guys, I'm going to try that -4.6dB tone. Hopefully sorts my problem.

I don't think beefing up the system is an answer, who have 6kw of amps if they are only going to do 1kw on music and 6kw on tones. As most songs never reach 0db, I won't be using the amps full potential.
