Diexcy Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 I'm about to build my first box but before I get started I have a newbie question. Please be gentle Does the design and structure matter a lot? Ive seen many boxes having cornered walls inside them and such, but im still wondering if its possible just to build a box with a simple wall and a port and have it sound good or will i need some planning, if so how do i know what to do? Im not looking for a box tuned at a specific hertz level. please atleast point me in a direction where i can read about this stuff Ive searched but cant find any good results Check out my build log!

MACnonsence6 Posted May 15, 2011 Report Posted May 15, 2011 i have that same box if its 36h13w16d its the same and its tuned to about 47hz I picked up an MTX Sw1212 powered subwoofer today. This thing sounds amazing. 130 watts, 12" woofer with a passive 12" woofer tuned to 27 hz. Moving the pictures on the walls and my girl got wet from the bass when i showed her haha. Tonight should be good haha.

Im mostly listening to hip hop, rap and occasionally reggae lol, so any opinions on what frequency i should go for? I'm guessing 35 Hz is enough? Btw any tips on good sites focused on designs? I cant just build a box by looking at it, ill need to see how it looks inside and obvioulsy the measurements. Check out my build log!
