I'm going to be ordering two level 3 12s in about a week and a half, and I was wondering what a good gain level would be for break in. I know everyone has their different views on woofer break in, but for those of you who do it, I would like to know. I was thinking set the gain where I'm going to have it after they're broken in, and just be easy on the remote gain control. The amp will be a aq1200d at 1 ohm. Also, what is a good break in period?

Thanks.

what happens when your CD player skips and you accidentally drop a 22 hz sine bomb at an unholy volume on 7-8 year old subs? Mechanical failure floppy sub knockage on at least 2.

well...as i see the level 6 is compared to a lamborghini.....but a corvette?

i was thinking more like a chevy volt. its cute and new and "hip", but i would just rather stick my dick in a blender.........

IMO, i do : break in" my subs, i myseld had LV3s ( with an extra spider tho..) and let them loosed up on 500rms ea for a week or 2, then ran 1500rms to them

with a "stock" level 3 i think you would be alright just letting it play 3/4 volume for a few songs then giviner

Steps:

1.) Set the amp to where it doesn't clip with remote gain on max.

2.) Play as loud as you want.

3.) ???

4.) Profit.

Woofer breakin: #1 bullshit in car audio next to p&n.

Step 3 seems like a good step to be on the list, lol. Maybe I'll just go a little easy on them for a few songs to loosen up the suspension a little bit then just wang away.

Honestly if your really want to loosen up the suspension and make sure glue holds, just play it at half the volume you'd normally play at for a half hour or so. Just gives it a chance to breathe for a bit. Is it necessary? No. Will it maybe make you feel better? Probably.

Or just give them 3x their rms rating right off the back. Really loosens that suspension up!

The only reason I ask is because Im not trying to ruin brand new subs, lol. This is going to be my first time buying new.

Your edit sounds like a plan, haha. It's also sig worthy, to me at least, lol

They'll take their rms and more the first time you hook them up.

And I do what I can. :good:
