HDC3 18 help..

I just built a box my my new sub and i got it all set up today but when i turn the volume up kinda high the low bass distorts kinda bad. And i know my amp isnt cli[pping the sub because this didnt happen on my 15 inch l7. But also my box is sealed 47" width 21" wide and 17" tall and the amp is a rf bd1500.1 the lowest you can tune the amp is 50 hz i believe. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Lol and subwoofer is in title...

You can't use a seal box on that sub.

hmmm alright thanks i will change my box design tommorow and see what happens.

Your lucky it didn't fry. Cause there real stiff an are made for vented boxes only

how is the amp tuned to 50hz? i assume you mean the LPF so set the low pass filter to 80hz (you dont have to be exaxct). turn the subsonic switch on as well.

Wow i heard they needed ported boxes but i didnt think it was that serious i will fix it tommorow the sub is still in the same condition because i only played it for a bit today and realized that i should figure out why it didnt sound as great as it should before playing it any more. Do you have any suggestions on size of port or if i should do a rectangle or tube port? Btw thanks for the help man.

yes the HDC3's NEED ported boxes. email DJ from audioque and ask him for recommended box/port dimensions.

The HDC3 18 needs 5-6 cubes and 16 sq inches of port per cube tune to your liking, I would say 35-38 hz is where that subs likes to get loud.
