MACnonsence6 Posted May 28, 2011 Report Share Posted May 28, 2011 say i have an ap1800 running it to 2 re se 12s at 1ohm. in a hypatheticle situation with those se's being in the perfect box on that power vs. another pair of re se with xxx recones running the same amp sept at .5 ohm so each sub getting around a grand maybe a little more lets say voltage is a perfect 14v with zero drop. and the sexxx are in a perfect box as well. im thinking about doing this but im wondering if ill actually gain anything. becouse a sub can handle more power does that make it louder? not trying to make a vs thread so sorry if it comes out looking that way. im just trying to see if it would be worth it to recone my se's with xxx recones. I picked up an MTX Sw1212 powered subwoofer today. This thing sounds amazing. 130 watts, 12" woofer with a passive 12" woofer tuned to 27 hz. Those AP's won't handle .5 ohm very well. You're better off wiring up to 2 ohm. If the XXX's can handle more power & you put more to them, then theres a possibility they're gonna be louder. Skullz Posted May 28, 2011 Report Share Posted May 28, 2011 Do yourself a favor and sell that shit and start over. DC, FI, Sundown or anything other than what you have now. For the price right now i would get a pair of the new sundown SD-2 12" on pre-order once it becomes available, trying to hobble a system together the way you are right now will just cost you more in the long run.
