fecupe2001
if my port is just a hole, then a port is just a hole, as my hole is a port. let me rephrase what everyone is trying to say. your port is a hole. a real port is a CYLINDER. you shouldnt be able to stick your hand inside the port and be able to feel the backside of the baffle that the port is located on. edit: i still cant believe how you have 700+ posts yet you dont even KNOW what the hell a simple port is supposed to look like. what the hell have you been posting thats informative? over 9000 posts and you don´t even know what a port is??? I guess my swift doing a 153.5 with 4 holes (when i take out the aeros to bring the tuning up for comps)isn´t loud then, maybe he would get louder with a longer port like ray says? maybe, but saying his "hole" isn´t a port just because the only lenght he has it´s the baffle itself is not correct, he doens´t need a longer port to get the tuning he wants that´s all, and what ray is saying it´s that he needs a longer port to get louder. if my port is just a hole, then a port is just a hole, as my hole is a port. let me rephrase what everyone is trying to say. your port is a hole. a real port is a CYLINDER. you shouldnt be able to stick your hand inside the port and be able to feel the backside of the baffle that the port is located on. edit: i still cant believe how you have 700+ posts yet you dont even KNOW what the hell a simple port is supposed to look like. what the hell have you been posting thats informative? And port length decreases relative to the size of the box, I am pretty sure length is inversely proportional to the volume. So as volume increases, port length decreases. Cars with full size walls, especially pure SPL cars, the length of the port is normally just the thickness of the baffle., the ported section of this 4th order is 7.4cuft, with about 13 inches of port area per cuft. For people who are into that sort of a theory, thats normally pretty good for a music tune [although I am not that way inclined] Ryan This is correct I´m the SPL Gains topic creator!! wanna get louder?? check this: SPL Gains. Ray
I was saying more vent. In turn making it longer to keep tuning But after seeing how tight it is, the only way to do that it seems is build up. But, moot point now. I think it doing a 47 is pretty damn good. When i think 4-12's on 3k in a 4th order, im lookin to see 48-mid 48. Maybe i shoot to high. But i feel after polyfill he will be very close to that. My plot says a gain of .8 with fill Raises tuning 1.9hz. We will see if im right or wrong, if he trys the poly. So.. No i didnt mean just lengthen the current vent. More so about keeping vent length in mind when calc'ing area. 2008 California state record holder 157.2 Bassrace2009 California state record holder 157.0 BassraceRollin 50's 158.7db2009 King of Cali Bassrace2009 USACi score 160.5 @ 42hz

Ray
In my 8" box 1.6 My single 18 box 1.3 Unlike what most think, poly typically moves the band up not down. If you were looking at a plot, think of it as up and up. Up in freq and up in db. 2008 California state record holder 157.2 Bassrace2009 California state record holder 157.0 BassraceRollin 50's 158.7db2009 King of Cali Bassrace2009 USACi score 160.5 @ 42hz
