flex #1

flex #2

hehehe, flex baby flex!

i so need DD-1, noticed that my headunit gives disorted signal at 25 volume, it gives clean signal up to volume 30/35 with 1dB to 2dB rise at every volume click.

i think i have too much gain atm, i should lower gain so i can use more volume on headunit to keep the original signal as clean as possible.

checkd again DD-1:s shipping costs, old was $116 now $114!!! yay! total $2 savings!

i'd rather pay SMD the $250 total than paying $114 to the company that ships the device to Finland.

back to the drawing board.

gonna fine tune that box.

i calculated and checked hat the box is now tuned to 37Hz. whick should be the best for thiskind of car.

so it was time to finish the box before SPL meter arrives.

it is quite heavy actually

26072011203%20%28Custom%29.jpg

i check'd the sub if there is anything wrong with it, everything looked just fine.

26072011204%20%28Custom%29.jpg

i sanded the bottom and painted it behind the port

26072011205%20%28Custom%29.jpg

it is abit uneven but it will do for now

26072011207%20%28Custom%29.jpg

then sanded the whole box

26072011208%20%28Custom%29.jpg

then some paint on it.

i'm not a very good painter, so the finished product looks like 5year old kid painted it.

i dont mind :D

27072011221%20%28Custom%29.jpg

uneven, but solid and shiny

27072011218%20%28Custom%29.jpg

i put ALOT of glue in the cables and put em trough the holes, and poured extra on em :F

should be solid now.

27072011219%20%28Custom%29.jpg

outside alittlebit less

27072011222%20%28Custom%29.jpg

i sanded the port

27072011223%20%28Custom%29.jpg

and put some... actually i don't know what it is called in english.

it is 2 component stuff, with hardener and stuff with polyester stuffing.

polyester filler?

anyhow, tomorrow is more sanding on the port and screwing it back to the box.

then i gotta call a friend to get it back in volvo, as it is quite heavy.

Finally got my dB meter!

first combo!

140.6dB

kompo1_vol27.jpg

i'm missing 4 to 5 dB on all tones.

kinda disapointning, but i got alot work to do, gotta damp that roof and try to seal car up.

also i need to find sweetspot for my HU, i played song with 27volume, ended up with some smoke in the cabin :3

not much, but enough to smell it.

gonna try later today with 26/35 volume if i gain more dB with less disortion.

kompo3_vol20_ug.jpg

gettin moar!

i set up seats in right position, found the best place for the box,cut down the speaker wires to be as short as possible.

set gain to max :3

145dB peak is ok, but i should bump like 148 on peaks.

seems like i aint getting enough power out from my amp.

or the sub needs more to break in.

however +2dB in 2 days.

still needs ALOT dampening material to seal up car to gain the rest, but budget is zero so i gotta work my magic now and try to push atleast 145 average so i can competete.

still pretty decent, between 35Hz to 56Hz i get 140+ wich im pretty happy about.
