technics downunder DD build

Hi everyone, been floating around for a while now so thought id post a build log..

as the title suggests, im an aussie and this will be my first decent system. Rather than blab on il get to the details.

CAR: is a 2006 ford falcon xr6, basically the aussie equivalent to a mustang, with the 'xr6' meaning its the sports version. I started with doing some performance mods, has a full exhaust system from headers to exhaust, a cold air intake and a custom dyno tune which managed 260hp at the rear wheels, pretty respectable for a NA 6 cylinder.

First system was just a couple of pioneer 308 12's with a half decent pioneer mono in a sealed setup, was great for what it was but id always wanted to get into it a bit more serious.

Anyway, im a full time university student (or college as you guys call it)so i never really had the spare cash to upgrade, but slowly i did, i started with a pretty simple clarion screen, and through a autometer oil pressure gauge in for good measure haha. In addition some rouckford punch splits in the front and 5x7's as rear fill.

I work at an audio shop, and one day the opportunity arose to get some DD gear really cheap, well not to you guys it wouldnt be but in aus any decent audio brand costs a fortune. Due to the funny shape of the boot 10's were the most practical option, so i went with 2 DD3510e's with Kevlar cones and dual 2 coils, and a DDs2 amp to run them off.

tuned the box nice and low, and was really happy with the results, they absolutely slammed haha. Then came the time for upgrading my cable and doing the big 3, i used shok industries cable and rockford accesories in the install, and it came out really nice, although since this pic ive replaced the battery with a optima yellow top.

After that was sorted i decided i to throw in a dynamat bulk pack as i had terrible vibration, it made a huge difference. The bulk pack did the trunk lid, parcel shelf and the side walls of the trunk.

Ok so with that current setup i decided to go to my first test day, managed a 141 @33hz and a 140 on music, not bad for a box that wasnt sealed up properly (wasnt sure about how i woould be finishing the box) and the amp wasn't tuned anywhere near its potential, and the subs weren't broken in either.

The plan was to have the whole trunk fibreglass top to bottom, making it a bit of a showy install. After having a go myself i did not too bad for my first attempt but decided too get it done proffesionally.

This is where im at as it stands, waiting to get my cash up before the fibrglassing starts and finalising a new box. In addition i picked up a ZED audio leviation, which puts out 6x150rms @4 ohms to run an active front stage, im removing the rear fill and hopefully gonna do something cool with a dd1508 down the line..

so thats basically all for the moment, will keep it updated as i go, already ive learnt so much in the short time since this build, ive gone from a begginner to someone whos now pretty competent.

yep sure is an s2a, each sub wired to 1 ohm per channel, thanks for the compliments guys

not sure if this matters a lot, but you could probably get better scores if you took all that wire out of your port
