Rebel4055 Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 Hey guys, did a build for my buddy with a rockford prime 500-1 amp and after 20 or so minutes of bumping the amp gets really hot and then protects. Wired at 2 ohms( Double checked with multimeter). It has 4 gauge power and ground. It's in a 2000 dodge durango. Rest In Peace mother. Double check it When my buddy gives me the time to try to fix it and diagnose it I'll attempt to move the ground. I checked it today and it was still very tight. Yes the area is grinded down. ryderonthestorm Posted July 1, 2011 Report Posted July 1, 2011 I had the same problem with that amp in my girls dodge neon. It would get super hot and cut out all the time. I know the gains were not set correctly but I only had it 1/2 of the way up and then 1/4 of the way up and the problem persisted. Its just not a very good amp in my opinion.
