Tune Ports ?

I was just wondering if someone can explain the formula or way you come up with what a box is tuned to. For example, if someone said i have 2 12s in a ported enclosure tuned to 30htz??? How do you figure that out. Do you tune the enclosure by the port size? sub specs? any explination will help.

tuning is based on ur port area and length....there is a formula for tuning. longer port=lower tuning, shorter port=higher tuning. the tuning should be determined by a combo of things..including sub specs, musical preference...and other thing..
