Box For Two 15" Btls

Recommended Posts

I got two fully loaded 15" BTLs and i need to build a new box, Im running one T20001bd to each sub, In a 2007 Ford Explorer. I want to do subs up port back, and with the port in the middle, like where steves is but top to bottom. I like it tuned low, probably 32 hz and my max dimensions are 45W x 23H and 27D. Its going to be 3/4" MDF and lots and lots of glass on the inside, mostly that 29oz mat from tap plastics. Thanks ahead of time. I also want to recess the subs so an extra 3/4" on the top baffle, while still staying under 23"

ok..i think i got it for ya...

box outer dimensions: 22.25"h x 39.5"w x 26.5"d

box inner dimensions: 20"h x 38"w x 25"d

that gives u right at 11cubes before any displacement

port dimensions: 20"h x 4"w = 80sq" of port area....and make it 14" long

port displacement: .8912cft

displacement of subs: .42cft

net box volume: 11-.8912-.42 = 9.68cubes

tuning: 32.265hz

i likes me some audio stuff...

i can post of the general mathematical equation if u like...i made a little program in excel that does it automatically and even figures in sub and port displacement...

here is the general equation though: (raising to the half power...i.e. ^.5...thats the same thing as take the square root, thats just how u have to type it in in excel though)

Fb = .159*((Av(1.84*10^8)/(Vb(Lv+.823*Av^.5))^.5

Fb = tuning frequency

Av = vent area

Vb = net volume in cubic inches

Lv = effective length of vent

effective length = physical length + end correction <---1/2 of the ports width

i likes me some audio stuff...
