google how much your door ways and get the one that is a little bit above that weight,

Thats not how you do it... When getting solenoids, you don't wanna cheap out... Its what pulls your latch to engage the mechanism to open the door, then you have the poppers that physically push it open... I'm doing 85lb. ones to do mine... And a military grade solonoid... Don't have any tips for you other than to use .023 wire, and don't put too much heat in one spot... Oh yeah, good luck...

thanks my dad has been telling me that and to keep the welder on a lower temp so i dont warp the door panel

  • 4 weeks later...

I've shaved a lot of handles and I agree use the avs brand bolt in parts. Especially doing it for the first time you don't have to adjust anything . At times when I don't have a welder I use something called panel bond. If its ur first time welding on thin metal from cars I would just use panel bond. Works great and doesn't show any cracks. Grind the paint to metal with 40 grit around the handle. Put some panel bond around the area and on the piece of metal that u use to replace the handle. Let it dry make sure its flush. Then use kitty hair body filler. I shaved my tahoe 5 years ago with this method BTW I live in Arizona and still no cracks looks great.
