SPLWGN Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 A tip to bass boost a song without making all the treble quieter, duplicate the track (ctrl+D) high pass one at 40 then low pass the other at 40, from there adjust the gain on the bass track til you're happy and it's not clipping Note: this will generally only work with a song that has bass under 40hz as it is just boosting lower bass without boosting the hard bass hits that clip
Decaf Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 people need to understand not every song can be boosted, and when u hpf/lpf the song u are removing content at the crossover points, also slightly changing the phase on the hpf section i use bass boost ALL THE TIME, u need to figure out how to get rid of the spikes/peaks that are taking up the room you could be using to boost the bass both bass boost and adding db with the eq on the low end accomplish the exact same thing keep it up tho, experience lends itself to great things, and the more variety of songs you try the more knowledge you will gain on whats applicable to all songs

Decaf Posted August 3, 2011 Report Posted August 3, 2011 [quote name= Gem132' timestamp='1312369162' post='1633878] What does changing the pitch do ? and how the hell do you do it properly ? personally i like to use change speed. it keeps a ratio of tempo vs pitch constant and keeps the song from sounding all warbly and odd, which happens when u only slow the pitch alot. commonly found in others slowed music i hear damn, thought hpf/lpf was the way to go use whatever works for you, but it does change timing of the bass section. makes it lag slightly behind the mids/highs and can actually be the reason the clipping disappears. in essence if u delay the highest peak of the bass enough then when the mids/highs are added to it its not enough to cross the data range... but with a good ear you should notice the timing isnt perfect anymore
trevorf5 Posted August 3, 2011 Author Report Posted August 3, 2011 Okay well i think ill stick with using the eq for now since i somewhat understand it but let me know if you guys have any song requests you want me to boost.
