SkylarDunn Posted August 4, 2011 Report Posted August 4, 2011 This test compares a power akoustic 1800w amplifier, and a rockford fosgate 500 watt monoblock (punch series). First off, the footprint of the PA is roughly 250% of the rockfords, it looks cheap, and the "chrome" plated plastic is bubbly as all fuck from the factory. The rockford is nice, its tiny, much easier to hook up, easier to tune, looks nicer, and is roughly the same price as the PA(per watt). Power output: the amps are on a 4 ohm nominal load. i had no way of testing rise, but i was able to get ACv at the clipping point. PA: 145.46w @ 4 ohms bridged. (only 4 ohms stable) RF: 216.51w @ 4 ohms. (stable to 1.25 ohms) Amp details: PA: 60A fusing, overheat protection circut, crossover network @ 12dBpO, external gain control, large footprint. RF: no fusing, 4 way protection circut, crossover network @ 16dBpO, external "Punch" control, small footprint.
