15" DC Enclosure *Suggestions*

Recommended Posts

Equipment:

1) 15" DC LVL 4

2) Audiopipe 1500.1

Wanted to ask for tuning suggestions from those with experience.

GOAL: Daily Ground Pounder that will get fairly loud and sound great on music (hip-hop/rap) not competing

This is for a 2001 Acura RL (Trunk install) and the box I built for my cousin this weekend is:

3.33 cubes (Net)

(2) 4" Aeroports

Based on the info above.... what should I tune this box to???

Currently:

* Hybrid Audio Legathia 3-Way Active Front Stage

* (2) Morel Ultimo 12's

* (2) Arc Audio 1100.1 XDi v2 (Strapped @1ohm)

* (1) Arc Audio 1200.6

* RF 360.3 DSP

I had mine tuned to 32 and for rap music is a lot of lows so I wouldn't go with a higher tuning, I'm sure once he hears it he will be happy with it.

I agree personally 30-33hz is what is what i tune my own enclosures to but he wants to be "loud" lol. it's his first setup so also

thanks for the suggestion... that's +1 for lower tuning.

anyone else?

With aeroports you have the ability to play with you port tuning without any problems. I would start with a low tuning about 28-30hz and play a few songs. You can then start cutting port length to raise the tuning until you find something that you like.

Use gorilla tape to hold the PVC parts together so you are able to easily take them apart. Once you have something you like you can then use PVC glue to permanently assemble the ports.
