bassaholicsfl Posted August 10, 2011 Report Posted August 10, 2011 Alright guys I need help on this as well. My headunit on has 2 sets of rca outputs. Right now i just ordered a class d amp for the sub finally. I have a four channel but no rca outputs. The new amp has one set of rca outputs should i run the outputs from the lows amp to a highs amp? or just run high inputs to the highs amp because I have the plugs for them. Or just run high amp inputs on the lows amp? Quote 2001 Dodge Ram Quad Cab.

Guest Posted August 10, 2011 Report Posted August 10, 2011 get RCA Y-Splitters and run the front preouts from headunit and put y-splitter on it and plug them into front and rear on amp, matching L and R. then just put sub preouts on the sub amp Quote
skittlesRgood Posted August 10, 2011 Report Posted August 10, 2011 (edited) use the "front" outputs on the HU to go to the 4 channel using splitters. then use the "rear" outputs for the sub amp. in a car you only run "stereo" so there is just left and right, there is no front and back. so splitting the front channel doesnt do anything bad expect you lose fade. bassaholicsfl Posted August 10, 2011 Author Report Posted August 10, 2011 Ahhh Sorry!!! Just ordered some splitters even though I hate seeing some of my highs and mids being lost. Later on Ill spend the money for a new head with 3 rca outputs Next comes building of a box for 8 5 1/4s. Hmm which to get? Fosgates or Polks.... Quote 2001 Dodge Ram Quad Cab.

skittlesRgood Posted August 10, 2011 Report Posted August 10, 2011 you wont lose any mids/highs unless your hu has only like 1v preouts. a box for eight 5 1/2" speakers? bassaholicsfl Posted August 10, 2011 Author Report Posted August 10, 2011 (edited) No 4 seperate boxes. two are going to be on the rear fender wells there going to have 3 a piece. then im puting the last two right beside the doors Polks come into mind because jeeps are very prone to water and I would def not want to ruin some fosgates that arent marine grade Ive heard when you use splitters you can lose some signal. The highs I got now which are two crappy 6x9 xlpods which will not explode for me!!! I cant hear my highs and mids when I got a bass intented song on Edited August 10, 2011 by bassaholicsfl Quote 2001 Dodge Ram Quad Cab.

No, I found out my head unit isnt that out of date it has 2 sets of 2v rca ouputs. Even though she is an older model that lil jvc gets the job done. Quote 2001 Dodge Ram Quad Cab.
