LoudBimmer Posted August 11, 2011 Author Report Posted August 11, 2011 Back when I had my ten nano, I would check parameters every couple days and do water changes a lot at first. Once the rock, sand, get established I was doing a water change every week or so. Do you feed a lot? every other day, dry food Quote
LoudBimmer Posted August 11, 2011 Author Report Posted August 11, 2011 well, just ordered new filters for my reno 50gallon filter. Getting rid of fresh water tank, since it only got 1 fish in it, and just keeping 10gallon salt water for now. BTW, after looking thru other forums (fish related) look's like stirring sand is a big no no. Quote
n8ball2013 Posted August 11, 2011 Report Posted August 11, 2011 yes. thats why you want nassiurius snails. there are pockets in the sand that can release toxins back into the water causing your ammonia to spike. ammonia turns into nitrite which turns into nitrate. which the process kills shit. That is what killed your fish that in turn taxed your bio filtration to the point where it could not handle the organic breakdown and the ammonia spike you recorded " I had 2 snails, but i guess they weren't doing good job. LoudBimmer Posted August 14, 2011 Author Report Posted August 14, 2011 alright, so it's been few days now and i replaced filter with rena 55gallon filter, added 15lb of live sand and stared cycle. So far everything seems to be going great. Btw, i found this forum/ online store which is very helpful http://forums.saltwaterfish.com/forum/ Quote
