This weekend i plan on building my first ever sub enclosure for a single 12" sub woofer with an aero port. I have the port dimensions and box dimensions calculated i just was wondering if anyone had any tips on building the box or knew anything else i needed. My list so far:

3/4" MDF Board

1" Screws (What exact type? Anyone know for sure? Drywall?)

Wood Glue

Caulk

Upholstery

Tools:

Drill

Saw

Measuring Tape

Anything else?

It's just going to be a square or rectangle so im starting easy.

1 5/8" Coarse Thread Drywall Screws

Titebond II

Clear Silicone

Whatever you want to cover it with.

Tools:

Drill

Router (Not a necessity, but makes life easier)

Jigsaw if you don't have a router

Saw

Measuring tape

Straight edge (If you're not using a table saw it will save you ALOT of time and headache)

Clamps

Corner Clamps (BIG help)

Remember to square up your sheet before you start, I NEVER trust a factory edge. After that be careful, measure twice cut once. ALWAYS predrill, avoid being 2" from the end to avoid splitting. I like to countersink my screws as well. Make sure all of your seams are smooth and go together good. If your cuts are good you won't need to seal it, I always just do a thin bead of clear silicone to be on the safe side.

It's just going to be a square or rectangle so im starting easy.

Make sure you pre drill the holes before you start drilling in the screws ( Drywall works just fine ) and the diameter of the hole should be about 60% smaller then the screw diameter itself. Also, use good quality caulk, and run your finger along the edges when caulk is added to get a good seal.

And if it's youre first build, keep a couple bandaids nearby.......it never fails! Speaking from experience of course LOL!

The hole for the aeroport how big should it be? 4 inch in diameter 10 inches long but im not sure the diameter hole should be 4 inches. Im using a table saw and my friend may have a router. i know the sub cutout is 11.25 not 12. lol. any tips on upholstery? i plan on a vinyl that matches my interior or should i go with a carpet? how do you get rid of the seams?
