01VWGREENMACHINE Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 ok my box dimensions are for my 2 RF T1d212's width is 36 inches highth is 19.5 inches and depth is 14 inches this is a total of 4.5 cubes and that is with port volume and sub displacement my port opening is going to be 72 sq inches which is 18 x 4 i would like to tune it to 35 hz all i need to know is my port depth thanks a bunch!!! (i tryed using the torres calc but i am getting 36 inches deep that doesn't sound right to me)(what do i know im a noob at this!!!) thanks again for anyone's help in advance p.s - i haven't started building the box yet! and i don't have a program to 3d it up cause again im a noob!! http://www.stevemead...f-system-build/ 2001 VW GTI with a 1.8T motor BIG 3 Pioneer AVH-4200DVD DOUBLE DIN HEAD UNIT 6 - 4 VOLT PREOUTS RF T1500-BDCP (running at 2 ohm) RF T400.4 RF T1 D212 x2 (in ported box) RF 1/0 TO 4 GAUGE distribution block x 2 all stinger wires 200a alternator (SINGER ALT) RF T2652-S (6.5 MID BASS AND 1" TWEETS in front and rear) KINETIC HC 800 BATTERY (Front) KINETIC HC 1200 BATTERY (BACK) 120ft of 1/0 stinger blue and clear matt 20ft of 4 gauge stinger blue and clear matt 30ft of 8 gauge stinger blue and clear matt 100ft of 12 gauge stinger speaker wire black
RAM_Designs Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 In order to find the port length, you need to know the net volume of the box after all displacements, including sub/port/bracing. You use that volume to find the port length, then find the volume that the port will take up. Add that volume to your other displacements and add that to the net volume you're wanting(this gives you a "gross" volume of everything inside the box). Then find the box dimensions that give you that gross volume that you just added together. The way you're doing it is not right at all; you'll end up with too small of a box that's tuned too high, since you have 4.5ft^3 to start out with and will be taking away from that volume when you add the port. Ideally, if you're shooting for a 4.5ft^3 box, you need to start with about 6ft^3 before displacements. bassrace Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 Port 18" high by 2.5" wide and 21" long gives you a tuning of 35.72hz 3.58ft3 net and 12.57in2 of port area per foot. I know its not the same port size but you had too much port area per foot like you originally had it. 145.9@40hz 145.3@34hz big 3 X2 group 34 Deka Group 31 All 0/1 awg jl meta wire Alpine CDA 7894 Orion HCCA D5000 2 AQ HDC312's Crunch gpv1100.2 (for 6.5"s only) AQ pro audio 6.5" - 3 sets AQ supertweeters - 2 sets 2000 Slamry
bassrace Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 Or 18" by 2.75" by 26" it gives you 15.09 sqin of port per cube and a tuning of 35.75 with a net volume of 3.28ft3. But thats on the high side of port area per foot. 145.9@40hz 145.3@34hz big 3 X2 group 34 Deka Group 31 All 0/1 awg jl meta wire Alpine CDA 7894 Orion HCCA D5000 2 AQ HDC312's Crunch gpv1100.2 (for 6.5"s only) AQ pro audio 6.5" - 3 sets AQ supertweeters - 2 sets 2000 Slamry

01VWGREENMACHINE Posted September 11, 2011 Author Report Posted September 11, 2011 to get the proper length of the port are you measuring the middle?? http://www.stevemead...f-system-build/ 2001 VW GTI with a 1.8T motor BIG 3 Pioneer AVH-4200DVD DOUBLE DIN HEAD UNIT 6 - 4 VOLT PREOUTS RF T1500-BDCP (running at 2 ohm) RF T400.4 RF T1 D212 x2 (in ported box) RF 1/0 TO 4 GAUGE distribution block x 2 all stinger wires 200a alternator (SINGER ALT) RF T2652-S (6.5 MID BASS AND 1" TWEETS in front and rear) KINETIC HC 800 BATTERY (Front) KINETIC HC 1200 BATTERY (BACK) 120ft of 1/0 stinger blue and clear matt 20ft of 4 gauge stinger blue and clear matt 30ft of 8 gauge stinger blue and clear matt 100ft of 12 gauge stinger speaker wire black
RAM_Designs Posted September 11, 2011 Report Posted September 11, 2011 to get the proper length of the port are you measuring the middle?? Yes, always measure down the middle of the port when finding the length.
