DC XL 18 Box Help.

My buddy has a DC XL 18, And were trying to come up with a box design.

I came up with this, And was recomended 5.5 Cubes after, at 16 Per.

Grim83, Says 6 Height on port, Leading to 20.75 Per.

What is better?

Objective is to be loud, but still play low.

Hip Hop / Rap is typically what he listens too.

95 Tahoe

DC XL 18 Dual 2,

Hifonics Zeus 2500 Watt amp.

Will be using 2x4s for bracing.

If you want to play low(like down into the 20's) with authority, you're going to need to either tune low or keep your port area on the low side so that the sub won't unload as easily below tuning...generally speaking. Box A will be able to extend lower than box B. Box B may work fine for you, as I don't know what your interpretation of loud is. I routinely run boxes tuned in the upper 20's, so what I consider low may not be the same for you, and a higher tuning may work just fine for what you're wanting to do.

Yeah, When i meant low, I didnt mean like 20s, i meant low 30s. Not that low. But i found out now, That we cant fit 44" long box, from seat to hatch. So, Now im going to have to come up with a new idea of a box design. This sucks haha. We have 41 from the seat, to the hatch. And i can't exactly remember the side fender well to other side fender well. Oh well, I think a wall just may be in order if anything. Gahhh.
