October 2011 SOTM Nominees - Sponsored by XS Power

Recommended Posts

Can we run a STOM for us professional installers one month....but the install must be in their own vehicles.

I'm not trying to start any problems with this, but I'm wondering:

What's the difference between a person taking their car to a shop and paying to have the install done and then entering SOTM versus the installers who work at that shop entering their own cars in SOTM? The only real difference I can see is that the customer who brought their car in probably paid more for their products and install than the installer did...but the quality of work on the installs in both cars should be the same.

Like I said, I'm not trying to rock the boat or disrespect the rules. I'm just really curious as to what the difference is.

But I definitely like the idea of having an "Installers-Only SOTM"...I think it would make for an interesting competition :)

someone who pays for an install isnt a professional therefore is qualified to enter. I gotta tell you bro, getting your shit done by a shop does NOT mean you have any advantage. Ive seen better installs come out of more garages then shops by a LONG shot since i have started this forum. Ive had more "i cant believe someone paid for that" moments here then i can count.

Also, I cant punish someone for paying a shop to do the work and keeping the industry alive. :pardon:

So...what is the definition of professional?

Again...just me being curious as I'm still fairly new on here :)

I would hazard a guess that a professional would be a person who's job it is to instal car audio equipment. Not like Steve, who's hobby (and profession now, I guess) is car audio.
