FunkMcOwnage Posted October 10, 2011 Report Posted October 10, 2011 I'm looking to upgrade the speakers in my '95 nissan maxima. I know the front door panels take 6 3/4" speakers because I've replaced them once before. Sonic Electronics says the rear deck has 6 3/4's aswell so it looks like I'll be getting two pairs of 'something'. I like the specs of the Infinity Kappa 652.9i's. Any feedback on these speakers or any other infinity speakers would be appreciated. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_13454_Infinity-Kappa-652.9i.html The amp I've picked out is this: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_37751_Pioneer-GM-6500F.html It looks like the right amp for the job. 85w RMS @ 2ohms (the speakers are rated at 75w RMS @ 2ohms). I'm very close to placing the order! What do you guys think? I'm pretty confident this will be a pretty badass mids/highs setup for my first install. The bass will come later Any feedback or suggestions on this setup would be appreciated. BeatBox Posted October 10, 2011 Report Posted October 10, 2011 the only infinities i had where these Infinity Kappa 60.9cs http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_13969_Infinity-Kappa-60.9cs.html i liked them, they sounded good. But for me anyways i wanted louder, i actually just sold both sets for $125 shipped last week for the amp i would go alittle bigger so that if u do upgrade u dont need to buy another amp Quote

Would the infinities and the Pioneer be a good choice compatibility-wise though? CaptainPooPyPantz Posted October 10, 2011 Report Posted October 10, 2011 if you haven't purchased the pioneer amp already , i recommend buying a infinity 4ch amp either a kappa or reference series ... you'll thank me later Quote Headunit - Pioneer AVH-P4250 DVD 4 - infinity reference 6.5 a pair of infinity reference tweeters 1 - AudioQue AQ-120.4 amplifier for mids & highs 1 - AudioQue AQ-2200D Monoblock 1 - AudioQue HDC315 KitAudio kerf ported Enclosure 4 - Stinger pro series signal wires 20ft Stinger 1/0Ga power & Ground wires Big Three Upgrade 1 - Kinetik HC1800 (Not Here yet . .Still Saving up for one)

The only one that matches my needs is 90w RMS x4. Will this damage the speakers at high volume since they're rated for 75w each? EDIT: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9712_Infinity-Reference-475a.html It isn't much more expensive than the Pioneer, so I wouldn't mind dropping the extra $30 on it. CaptainPooPyPantz Posted October 10, 2011 Report Posted October 10, 2011 your speakers will be fine , the kappa's series speakers love a little extra power that's where they shine. Just set your gains right.
