woodzyspl Posted October 10, 2011 Report Share Posted October 10, 2011 ok basicly nearly ready start my wall. it will be used for bassrace so the score dose matter hoping 150+ but will be tuned i hope around 35hz for hairtricks and such. main question is what would you do? 10 10" subs hopefully in a 4th order, or 3 18" in a normal ported wall. either set up will be off my dc 9k at 18v and hope buy a 2nd in future just curious as what the pros would say i got no experience with that big or small of a sub lol AUSTRALIA do i need say more? lunchbox.inc Posted October 16, 2011 Report Share Posted October 16, 2011 IMO bass race NEEDS reliability, from that point along i'd rather use more smaller woofers to spread the power over more voice coils.. but the issue will be buying more 10"s it all comes down to money, when you start buying high end gear, there really isn't a huge difference in price from 10"s to 18"s, the 3x 18s may end up be ALOT cheaper than 10x 10"s... in which case it comes down to money... put simply, for lows cone area wins, always will, so stuff as much cone area in as you can... that being said i can't remember but isn't 3x 18"s abou the same cone area as 10x 10"s...? either way, with the 10"s you will have more coils to spread that power over, and as such should handle it better...
