SMD DD-1 in Decaf's Car

This video is the first time ever using the device in my car.

alpine 7894 + crunch gp3000d pro

First issue was that my knukonceptz rcas ground shield is curved and thus does not fit in the top of the unit because of the plastic hole being rather small. I also tried stinger hpm rcas and it would not register a signal likely from the ground shield not going deep enough in (thats what she said ), so all testing ive done was thru amplifier to test headunit.

Im still using stock saturn speakers from 2000 so they cannot take more than 26 of 35 volume wise... so altho the headunit was clip free at 35 i could not use it at that point. the headunit is a 4v preout, but im likely getting 1-2v max since i cannot turn the volume up more without distorting the interiors.

After all testing ive found that i had gain in exact same spot i had chosen by ear except the interiors can take 26 and before testing i was using 24. so a slight increase, but most importantly i found the headunit does not clip and this will be great once i get a 2/4channel amp and can use all the preout voltage.

I also used the dd-1 on a sundown sax125.2 and crescendo2k with pioneer 8300ub. pioneer unit did not clip at max volume of 62. gain on 2 channel amp originally was set at ~2/5 and after dd-1 its closer to half. crescendo gain was almost in identical spot as chosen by ear. But the owner normally used 59/60 for max volume, so even tho gain is in same spot on sub amp it still will be louder with more voltage using the new volume of 62. his interiors sounded great and we definitely were afraid to turn it past 2/5s, but can now be confident with the gain set higher.

Build Quality - 9/10 - mostly because not all rcas will fit in the top for super fast headunit testing

Customer Service - 10/10 - arrived 3 days after order was placed

Ease of Use - 10/10 - it doesnt get easier... unless you have a buddy it would've taken half the time it took me alone

Would I Suggest To Others - 10/10 - lets be honest, it is a bit pricey but worth it if you plan on testing many vehicles/are new to audio

Definitely gets my stamp of approval. I will take more videos while i have the DD-1 using different vehicles local to show ease of use and performance increases. We do not have a local termlab so any changes are determined by ear (dont have any spl comp vehicles local, only daily drivers)

sept 29th late night ordered, arrived oct 4th.

ALSO

if you play my music, use -5db@40hz. Do Not Use -10db/-15db@40hz because almost all songs are louder than those tones, and thus u will clip the amp using any song louder than the tone used to set gains

I just put an AudioPipe10001d on the DD-1. I always thought this was a decent budget amp and that it put out rated power........

gain at barely 1/4

+volume at 19 of 35 (never found clip point because stock speakers and bass blockers were used, so speakers distorted before preouts could even be clipped)

+2v alpine headunit

in other words its barely turned up and already distorts.... maybe thats why they never called me back about their amps thd%
