briceboudreaux Posted October 16, 2011 Report Posted October 16, 2011 im somewhat new in car audio. i am going to be buying a new car and im not sure what kind of subs i should get. i was thinking sundown audio sa 8's. everyone hypes those up like crazy is the hype true? also i dont want to put a high output alternator on but i still want some decent spl.
traxxas101 Posted October 17, 2011 Report Posted October 17, 2011 yep the sundown SA-8 sub is very nice they have a diff motor set up rather than the other types of sundown subs, i believe that sundowns coils are very big and there spider is ehh alright..?? anyways but this SA-8 has a little 2" coil with a very large spider.. its designed for a lot of excursion The SA-8 is capable of around 2 inches peak to peak mechanical throw with 1.25" of that being linear coil travel. the power is about 400rms so i doubt you need to have another alt jus maybe a better battery like you were saying and youd be fine i think?? depending on how manys subs your installing?.. tell me some details maybe i can help?(:
briceboudreaux Posted October 25, 2011 Author Report Posted October 25, 2011 i was thinking three sa 8's or two sa 12's i dont know for sure. it'll be a couple months before i get a new car. right now i have a ford ranger with a 12" kicker cvt. i really want to go bigger but not to the point where i need a high output alternator. and i am OK with putting an extra battery and doing the big three and everything. and sorry about the late response i have been too busy to get on the computer. thanks
kam311 Posted October 25, 2011 Report Posted October 25, 2011 Between the 2 SA-12' and 3 SA-8's I would go with the 2 12's as long as you have the Airspace, it's just more cone area. I'd put them on a out 1500-2000 watts. Depending in the car you shouldn't have to upgrade alts although that is never a bad idea so far... briceboudreaux Posted October 27, 2011 Author Report Posted October 27, 2011 that is what i was thinking, but im getting an audi s4 and im not sure if the trunk is very big i dont think anything over 3-3.5 cubes is going to fit and still be able to put my golf clubs in the trunk. thanks for all the help

briceboudreaux Posted October 27, 2011 Author Report Posted October 27, 2011 well im fine with 10's but what subs would be louder in that box? 2 dc audio lvl 3's or the sa 10's? or even audioQ 2.5's or whatever they are. all of those subs have an rms rating of 600 and max of 1200 i believe

There are even other companies as well besides these three, but they seem to be the more common choices for the average budget. You would love the SA-10 so far...
