explicoit Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 Hello I recently purchased 2 id max and 1 Hifonics colossus XXV and i'm not sure how to set the gains and such, this is my first system and i dont know what the things are saying on the side also how should i set the bass knob that comes with it. http://www.sonicelectronix.com/pictures_new.php?id=9356&picture_id=128509 there's some pictures from sonicelectronix. If someone could explain to me how to do this i would greatly appreciate it. Also its going to be installed into a 2008 lexus is250 and i am also going to put a Line output converter.
Graham Posted October 18, 2011 Report Posted October 18, 2011 Well a lot depends on the type of box your speakers are in, and the Deck's output capabilities. We'd need to know what frequency to avoid sending to your speakers, like sub 30hertz for a ported or bandpass isn't good idea unless tuned to it. There are a lot of variables.

Level - Is used to gain match with the H/U, so if you have 4v pre-outs on your H/U you'll want to try and closely match it. Phase - Allows you to change from 0 to 180 degrees, best to leave it set at 0 for now and see how well it sounds. Boost and the next set of knobs you will not use so don't even think of them on there. Subsonic - Needs to be set a few hertz below box tuning to keep from bottoming the sub out. LPF - Best starting point will be to have the arrow in the 12'o clock position and adjust from there to your liking, the lower you set it the lower the frequency cut-off and if you go higher the higher it will go before cutting off. Something you'll play with till you like the way it sounds. EDIT: Don't hook up the remote while making first adjustments and playing of the amp so as not to accidentally having the knob turned all the way or partially down. explicoit Posted October 20, 2011 Author Report Posted October 20, 2011 Thanks for the replies guys, i guess i just need to find out how big my box is and the frequency, also do i match the frequency switch to what the box is tuned to? And what do i do with the bandwith?. Do you guys know any websites that have a calculator for a sealed enclosure? Lol speaking of the DD-1 i live in sacramento also where Steve lives. does he tune amps for a charge?
