Crown xls5000

i believe its volt^2/resistance. thats old school way. you need a test load to do that correctly.

why not just clamp it?

I don't have a clamp. Just a d4 sub and a DMM

The lowest the resistance can be is 8 ohms. If I got any box rise - it will make it such that it produces less than 300 watts. So really, it's 300 watts best case scenario

And as for an update: No response from crown yet. I sent them another email yesterday evening

did you scope the source and amp? turn off subsonics?

when i hook up my 3000 watt peavy amp to my sub output of my home theater it sucks shit. i have to hook up a 4v 20 db equalizer to get it to push out right.

No, and I don't have any subsonics.

I turned the amp up untill the clip light came on, then backed down until it was just barely off (a flicker every second or so) and took my reading

Hmm... This is really disappointing. No response back from Crown yet. I sent them a dummy email as if I would buy a product. Let's see how long it takes them to respond.
