Crown xls5000

I'm thinking of getting one for subwoofer duty. Are they any good? Do they do rated power?

yeah they do!:D crown amps are beast. if you upgrade the power cable it gives out even more watts:D

I just did a quick test without any load hooked up to it: this amp can push 212 volts at 20 hz. I will do so again and figure out how much power it can really do once I finish my sub box

Hmm...

I just did a test at 8 ohms on 1 channel at 50 hz. The amp only pushed 49v - which equates to 300 watts.

Even though Crown lists their power at 1 khz - this is still fairly dissapointing (and pretty unacceptable)

I sent Crown an email about the problem. I will keep everyone updated on where it goes.

If there was box rise - it would make the value even less =(

It's a d4 sub wired to 8 ohms. Best case scenatio is 300 watts.
