XRipSticKX Posted October 21, 2011 Report Posted October 21, 2011 Is there upgraded voltage regulators you can buy that will keep RPMs up in park to help keep voltage from dropping? Or maybe a way to program ECU to maintain 14 volts by speeding up idle when necessary? BFF Larry Posted October 21, 2011 Report Posted October 21, 2011 You could try this method too if you can't find any more information. Put vehicle into neutral and your e brake engaged. AA98hoe Posted October 21, 2011 Report Posted October 21, 2011 The regulator has nothing to do with keeping rpms up. Some newer trucks can have there ecus flashed to raise idle in park. Older car like mine use a manual throttle cable that locks. For shows I use to use a throttle depressor. Problem is if you have a lot of power once bass starts drawing amperage idle is going to drop from alternator load. I'm still trying to find a solution TEAM DC AUDIO VEHICLE:98 chevy tahoe 2wd 3-4 drop HEADUNIT:alpine 9886 PREAMP:arcaudio FRONT STAGE:4-6 1/2s selinium,DD component set and 4-selinium tweeters in each door KICKPANELS:jl audio 5 1/4 REAR DOORS: dd components 6 1/2s HIGHS AMPS:zapco 750.2 on front doors, zapco an another 750.2 on kicks and rear doors SUBS:4-ascendant audio 18s with 5 spiders in a custom box built by KINGSUV SUB AMP: 2-dc7.5s ALTERNATORS: 3-mechmans 1- 425comp, 1-smd spec350, 1-270 with adj voltage harness on custom dc bracket WIRE:10-runs 0g front to back BATTERIES:6-d1400s TL results:157.1 at 38hz and 156.8 at headrest score @37hz. XRipSticKX Posted October 21, 2011 Author Report Posted October 21, 2011 A voltage regulators job is to monitor voltage and when the voltage drops below a certain level it sends more fuel to the engine causing it to run faster and spin alternator faster.... i work on generators everyday and would love to see something like this for maintaining voltage when parked. i don't want to increase idle speed just be able to regulate voltage better like a generator does when u apply load to it... when i apply load to my alternator at idle it bogs down and engine slows causing voltage to drop... if there were a device to sense this happening and correct fuel to keep steady would be dope... or maybe it does thats what im tryin to find out NISSAN SKYLINE GTR R32 (Build in progress)Fosgate POWERhttp://www.stevemead...-fosgate-power/--------------------------------------------------------------------97 Honda AccordRockford Fosgate1400 watts RMS totalhttp://www.stevemead...e-1400watt-rms/---------------------------------------------------------------------
AA98hoe Posted October 21, 2011 Report Posted October 21, 2011 Post this on mechman. I understand what your saying. As far as I know. There isn't an application like this on any chevys... it would be great if load of alternator controled engine speed (idle) I think manufactures don't build this option because in normal situations the amperage is more than enough on a stock alternator to run all Acc. And won't load down unless you turn them all on TEAM DC AUDIO VEHICLE:98 chevy tahoe 2wd 3-4 drop HEADUNIT:alpine 9886 PREAMP:arcaudio FRONT STAGE:4-6 1/2s selinium,DD component set and 4-selinium tweeters in each door KICKPANELS:jl audio 5 1/4 REAR DOORS: dd components 6 1/2s HIGHS AMPS:zapco 750.2 on front doors, zapco an another 750.2 on kicks and rear doors SUBS:4-ascendant audio 18s with 5 spiders in a custom box built by KINGSUV SUB AMP: 2-dc7.5s ALTERNATORS: 3-mechmans 1- 425comp, 1-smd spec350, 1-270 with adj voltage harness on custom dc bracket WIRE:10-runs 0g front to back BATTERIES:6-d1400s TL results:157.1 at 38hz and 156.8 at headrest score @37hz. corteznewbie Posted October 21, 2011 Report Posted October 21, 2011 i found a company that sold adjustable voltage regulator but you'd would have to adjust it from under the hood. but when i do comps i bump it up to 15.3 then daily at 14.5 14.6 ish. heres the link. quick start Team DBs (Driven By sound)
