Can i mix wires for subs?

Hey guys i got some 12 gauge and 10 gauge speaker wire and was wondering if i could mix it together i have 2 id max dvc 4 ohm subs and im going to be running them at 2 ohms on each channel and was wondering if i could put 12 gauge from + - and then running a connector wire to the amps with the 10 gauge.

Nothing is wrong with it really. Do you not have enough of one size to do the entire project?

Ideally depends on how much power your supplying the subs.

12ga is usually safely rated for around 20amps. 10ga even more.

Just verify that the thinnest wire (highest gauge) can safely handle your current.

Then to make sure you have the least amount of voltage drop over the wire, use the thickest wire from the amp to the subs (assuming this is the longest cable length).

Same principle of using really thick wire(s) from your alternator to your trunk. Thicker the wire, the less the drop.

Its only going to be 1100 watts rms so it might be fine, just wanted a second opinion. thanks
